Meet Jocelyn Harding

Jocelyn, also known as Joss, is a dental hygienist and has been working at Confident Dental and Implant Clinic, Stroud, Gloucestershire since 2007.

She qualified as a dental hygienist whilst serving 9 years with the Royal Navy and has been in the dental profession for over 30 years and still gets a buzz from it!

Her passion for helping the mouths of cancer patients started in 2016 whilst trying to find information to help her patients. She noticed an increase in her patients being diagnosed with cancer and when returning to general practice recalling how sore their mouths were.

So, Joss set about making the information of suggestions to help mouth care more easily accessible.

2018 was a big year for Joss as she won the national award, Dental Hygienist of the Year 2018 and Phillips #shineon competition to San Francisco Dental Conference.

Joss is a Clinical Ambassador for the Mouth Cancer Foundation and Team Member of UKOMIC. and has represented the BSDHT to work with Public Health England working party and help with updating guidelines for Oral Cancer, prevention and early detection.

Her ultimate aim is to have the medical and dental professions working more closely together for the benefit of the patient living with cancer.
